Boissevain is one of the most beautiful communities in Canada. Beautification Chairperson and Mayor M. Edward Anderson states the Communities in Bloom is really working for Boissevain in making the Community truly a destination point for tourism. Since 1999 when Boissevain won the National Communities in Bloom competition, the Town had continued to strive for greater success in the International Contest. With partner Audley, England, Boissevain has consistently done well in all areas with a special emphasis on environmental programs which is a credit to such groups as the Recycling Centre volunteers who have created a state of the art class 1 facility in the Community and now through their untiring efforts on perfection were justly rewarded in 2003 as the “Most Beautiful Community in the World”. Boissevain is also noted for having over 2,000 elm trees on its shady streets. The Town has an elm tree program which includes spraying for Dutch Elm Disease and a meticulous annual trimming schedule. Boissevain is also developing a community orchard and possesses a beautiful arboretum. Flowers are another thing of beauty in Boissevain. During the spring planting day volunteers and businesses fill beds and planters with a multitude of flowers.
